Will detached pitchers continue to grow?

I recently had 2 large developing Raff pitchers severed acidentally from the tendrils of the plant

However, I kept the pitchers on the soil. A day later, I thought one of them opened its lid despite being closed the day before. Do the pitchers actually develop independently of the mother plant; as in, can they still grow without being atached?

Anyway, as part of a wacky science expt, I've reattached the pitchers using super glue.

Sorry to give you the bad news.

They do not grow once they dettached from the plant. The plant supplies the pitcher nutrients to continue growing. Once that supply line (tendril) is cut, it's gone.
