What's the difference between a dormant and dead pygmy sundew?

I've been keeping pugmy sundews for now 3 years and I just struggle to keep D. scorpioides and dichrosepala alive past the summer. Anything with a nitidula or pulchella or palacea does just fine and I understand that they can be kept "wet" all year round. so now I am wondering if the scorpioides and dichrosepala have just been dying back, as opposed to just plain old dying. Can anyone provide a picture of a dying back sundew?
