knock on wood, but it appears N. villosa is going to be fine.
Already seeing growth.

It had a strange root formation, sort of an inverted canopy, very rigid.
I didn't mess with it too much, just repot in fresh live sphagnum

dang thing always wants to grow horizontally though, it don't know which way is up

initially, the surrounding helis forced it sideways... but now it seems set in its way.
