Treating the enemy

nepenthes gracilis

Nepenthes Specialist
Anyone have any reccomendations for irradicating Scale? I seem to have a slight investation and wish to tame it. Seems to have effected 2 Sarracenia and killed one Nepenthes that I didn't expect to make it anyways. I thought about clipping off all infected parts of the plant and burning them, then treat with a systemic insecticide like Orthenex.

Any suggestions? Am I on the right track?

Thanks!

I have used rubbing alcohol for scale on my orchids per suggestions on an orchid forum. Works wonders on orchids.

i have used the Shultz expert gardener stuff made with chrysanthumum flowers. it kills the scale but takes several applications. it sure smells a whole lot better than the other stuff. scale actually managed to kill a nep? im qute surprised. ive got an orchid that has them and cant seem to get rid of them(its located quite aways away from my other plants) it still blooms quite regularly. as far as pests go scale dont seem to be terribly damaging compared to spider mites and aphids

Hey guys, well the Nep wasn't doing to good to begin with. It was an N. bongso cutting that I didn't expect to make it, wasn't a good cutting. The scale just finished it off.
