Three shelves down but we don't care

This is the third shelf down ( one from bottom, if you wish) of a mini-growtent placed on the Northwestern side of the Darlingtonia House. The inhabitants appear to be quite comfortable.
For those interested, the display on the thermometer is the root (medium) temperature.

The trays are undrained.

Really lovely plants fredg! The leaves on the P. corsica I find particularly attractive. Do you give them any kind of special care in there or is it mostly just a matter of keeping them watered?

Hi Fredg, I know this is an old thread, but I am just curious - what is your soil mix for these temperate pings ? Looks like just live spaghnum, or is that just a top dressing? Any tips would be super helpful! thanks :)

for these ping in situ They grow in acidic environments.
At my place, they're in blond peat , allways out door ,never in direct sunlight

I missed this one the first time around so 'nice to have it come up! I'm a fan of P. grandiflora.

In fact, there are several species:
- P. grandiflora subsp. grandiflora (the typical form)
- P. grandiflora subsp. rosea (pink form)
- P. grandiflora subsp. grandiflora f. pallida (light blue form
- P. grandiflora subsp. grandiflora f. chionopetra (white form)

The typical form thrives in all moist substrates (calcareous or acidic). It is fairly tolerant of temperature variations, but it requires a period of dormancy in the form of a hibernaculum during the winter.
Dormancy period from October to May.It forms its hibernaculum from August onwards; with the last leaves that dry out, it forms bulbils that can be detached to form other plants.

It is an ideal species for an outdoor bog garden.

^An excellent growing synopsis. I've only seen the typical form. 'Have to keep my eyes open for the other colors. I love the way the bulblets form around the base of the adult plants - makes it easy to establish a collection of plants.
