Well, here's a quick update:

I ordered a cutting online and just got it. I'm waiting for it to "cork" so I can root it, and then graft the old catus onto it. Any tips on rooting cactus would be appreciated. Do I have to root the cutting before I can graft the old cactus on?

I read somewhere online that perlite is a suitable medium for cacti. Will this be ok for rooting the cutting?
