Got any updates on this unit, Randoja? I'm looking around for a new lighting unit for my new 29 gallon tank. I'm a little concerned that the 16" height might make for too little light at the growing level.
Pearldiver - I've been looking at high-end LED units and it seems the sky's the limit for prices, often depending on the output level on a given unit.
For you, of course. I don't know how evident it is in the pics, but I feel like the light is really working well. Some of these cephs only arrived 3 weeks ago, and have had some hardship. I didn't have any fans on the rack at first, and I think I kinda set a couple of plants back by letting them get a touch of powdery mildew. I've since mounted the cooling fans that I bought for the light directly onto my rack and it has completely taken care of it. My "Big Boy" , that I've had for a bit, is doing quite well, and putting out what appears to be a large size trap. I've noticed some pretty vigorous leaf sprouting on one of mine as well. The light is only on 12 hrs a day for winter, so it's doing what would be expected. I think I've had it for about a month now and I'm very happy with it. I've actually already ordered another, and more of the little fans (they attach perfectly to my rack.) I'm going to keep them at 12 hrs, but would like more intensity during that time. The fixtures are so affordable, and I love the design. Here are some photos.
This typical I've had since 12-2, it had a ton of yellow/brown pitchers that I've since removed. It's producing a lot of new, albeit small, growth and leaves.
"Big Boy" This guy has been steadily growing one of those smaller pitchers each week. Just a couple days ago the larger crested trap appeared. I'm looking forward to that. I was lucky enough to get this plant from RSS, it's a really great specimen.
"Hummer's Giant" It has a new leaf sprouting from the center grow point, otherwise it has just been working on this big first trap. It's getting nice sized though, and makes steady progress.
"Czech Giant" Not growing really fast but it is making progress. I've only had it 3 weeks, so many factors involved.
"Emu Point" Putting out some new leaves there in the middle.
This is a non giant Czech clone. New leaf in the middle and it's been working on that pitcher in the forefront.
Typical growing at an avg pace.
"Coal Mine Beach" This is the plant that really got the worst of the powdery mildew. It lost a leaf and trap it was working on. It's on the mend now.
