I have 1 12V 20W light bulb, is that sufficient for a vft?

Nope. They need way more than 20 watts. I'm not sure how many they need. That's why I grow mine outside.

For a healthy VFT, I would say at least 80 watts.

I have a VFT growing fine under 60w of lights. It has nice color and grows fine.

They need much more than 20W.

Mine are currently 3" under 160W of cool white fluorescents.

The lowest I've gone is 80W, but the red-colored cultivars lost their coloration.
