Tank Conversion Question: Hinges?

A year or so ago I undertook this project: http://terraforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121582&highlight=conversion+tank

I'm looking to convert another tank and am interested in feedback from anyone who has used acrylic/plastic hinges rather than the plastic track method I used in initial conversion.

Ive never used those but a friend of mine wrote up an easy/cheap how to for "living hinges". He's been using them for over a yea with little to no wear.

That was a clean install. I'm looking to have two glass panes open out from the front of the tank w/ the hinges glued on the side of the tank and to the front panes.
