Successful pollination?

i pollinte P.ionantha by inserting a toothpick or small paint brush into flower, get some yellow grains of pollen and dag\b around, up and down. The folwer petals, after a couple days, brown and dry up around base of the flower. Is that a sign of sucess ful polliantion? also, when is the flower stalk ready to be "shaked" to get seeds?

The flower petals fall after successful pollination. The seed pod should be close to splitting when seeds are ready to be collected.
