stress flower

I left this plant (ventricosa red x carunculata robusta) outside during my trip to Denver and while I was gone temps in Kansas were 100+ degrees everyday with some days reaching 110-111. I think all the heat stressed it out and caused it to flower. The only problem is that the flower is looking pretty sickly and is quite small and I'm not sure if it will make it all the way to opening (I'm pretty sure the growth tip is already a gonner) so I can get a positive gender id. Since others in the community have always been better than me at determining gender I thought I would post a pic and see any of you can tell. Hopefully it will at least continue to grow a bit more and if it does get any bigger I will post another pic of it further developed to have a better chance at an id. I wouldn't really worry about it since I'm not really looking for seeds from it right now in it's stressed state but it is the plants first flower and it would be nice to know the gender for future reference.

My opinion is that it's male.

Agreed. Boy.

That's a plus for now... You can harvest some pollen without stressing the plant any more.

Came home to this on my densiflora x king of clubs. I'm terrible at telling genders until the plant is about to flower so i thought I'd ask again.

Hard to tell...maybe male? A closer pic will help. :)

Yeah, a closer picture would probably be necesarry
Male flowers are round, females are more oval

could you take a photo of the plant for me if you have time,i recently recieved a densiflora king of clubs but it is tiny

I'll try to snap some closer pics of it once I dig through my stuff and find my camera. I tried to take a cell phone pic but after several attempts it was pretty clear I wasn't going to get any kind of quality pic. It might be a bit too early to tell for certain anyway. It just started flowering so I've got some time. I will try to take a pic of the plant too but it doesn't really look like much at the moment. It really has never done that well for me as it seems to like higher humidity than I can provide. It has nice looking leaves but I have trouble getting it to pitcher properly and often get little lids or otherwise deformed pitchers. If you want to see a really nice one check out one of rattlers old pic threads. His is fantastic. Here's one pic of mine I had already loaded on photobucket. The pitchers are nicely colored and have really long tendrils which might be good if you want hanging pitchers, but otherwise mine is nothing too special. It still has a bit of maturing to do so maybe it will look better with time.
