Some pics from NM/CA/AZ

I absolutely love the very first pic on the first page. Beautiful! I would like to take a road trip now. I would like to see the gardens, as well.

heres something on island oak

[b said:
Quote[/b] ]Fossils of Island Oak have been found in mainland California; the youngest known fossils are two to ten million years old and were found near St. Mary's College, somewhat near the Oakland hills. The oldest known fossils are 30 to 60 million years old and were found in the Mojave desert. Island Oak is no longer native to mainland California, and is thought to be a relict of a climate that was warmer and wetter than today's. However, it will grow readily in mainland California if planted and regularly watered.

xvart: Yeah, it was a pretty sweet place up there, really different from the rest of NM. Everytime we go to that place, there is a huge herd of Elk in the grasslands.

Finch: Makes me wish I had collected some seeds or something....

Ok, just give me like 15 minutes; I'll upload the pics now.

Ah, ok thanks. After some minutes of research, it seems that Hoodia is in fact a type of Stapeliad. I don't 'spose your book says anything about growing them?

-Ben

Yes.

Lets see. Hoodia is the genus name. Growing them...

they are attractive plants for amateur growers, but are not easy and are extremely sensitive to over watering. the plant demands both high temperature thought the year and high light to induce flowering. Grafted plants are hardier and more floriferous.

Thats about all it says.
