Scraggly Ventrata, Chop or Spare?

Hear the Call of Nepenthes
Now that Christmas has passed, the grace period for my N. x Ventrata has expired. I'm not sure what to do with it, it's not looking to good, it does very nicely in the summer with lots of pitchers, but in the winter it gets sad, the result a long skeleton-like stem.

So what do you guys think, should I chop it and root the growth point or leave it as is?

I think the fact that you are asking the question suggests that you already know what you want to do, you just want confirmation ;-)
