Love this thread! Great growing and so jealous, haha. I can't wait for my sarr seed to germinate come spring. Wish I had the indoor growing space to get the excellerated growth on mine, but this thread inspires me to put my thinking cap on, lol.

Me too in-vitro. I just split clumps into a couple of jars. We'll see what happens.

Eric, I still need to send you a box of plants. Super busy but will by March or spring.

No worries Vic. Just send whenever. Thanks!

I just deflasked a clump of flava ornata x flava rubri and divided them.

I have a bunch of Sarrs just sending up their seed leaves.
They hadn't sprouted after their first stratification, so I just stuck a mix of jonesii, alabamensis, and oreophylla outside in my S. jonesii pot.
I'll post some pics tomorrow (or Tuesday).

at what temps do you germinate your sarrs at (anyone)

  • #208
I germinate mine at room temps or slightly warmer.

  • #209
Whatever nature decides since mine are all outside year-round.

  • #210
I grow then indoors for a few years then move out in the summer. Temps are in the 80-90 F range in the room.

Finding at 2 years time I can get about 3-4 years of growing time compared to growing the seedlings outside.

It looks like you got a few in LH 119 Fred.

No Heather, if you notice, I took the LH119 tag out....they never sprouted. I put in a small Umlauftiana and a small Hurricane Creek White. They were both dormant outside so I brought them in. Can't let good space go unused. :)
