I was out today hopin to see a open purp flower, but I saw a stump instead. a long stem was all that remained, with no curve where the bud was supposed to be. I found the bud, and it looked like it fell off. there was no stem attached to it, but it looks like the stem was cut. I dont know if it could have been a squirrel, or just the flower running its course, because it looked like it was open.
