Poached natural hybrid from the phils

What is it? It's from the Philippines, it's a poaching victim, and it seems to be a hybrid.

But what hybrid? Phil nep specialists to the front!

btw, it's from the same guy where I bought that cryptic merrillianasomethingsomething two weeks ago, and he told me that one was also from the Philippine jungle, not from Japan, as I initially suspected.

To quote our venerable forum member leucophylla, who resides in the Manila area:
"People here in the Philippines are very poor and therefore not very educated about natural conservation, so if you give $100 to a person here, he will happily poach all Nepenthes of a whole hill within 2 weeks for you."

Yes but only if there is a buyer!
YOU are responsible for further poaching, don't you understand that?

NG is probably right about the alata thing(since they are a common species), though I admit the first thing I thought of was N. petiolata. The odds of it being a hybrid with that are kind of slim, I imagine.
Is it your plant, Hans, or is it still in the Philippines?
Do you know where it was collected from?

Cheers,

Joe

Yes, Jan, I understand that. And in another forum, in a mirror thread you have read and commented upon, I have already posted contrite admittance of my wrongdoing.

KCC asked "who on earth would openly poach Nepenthes", and I told him. My answer wasn't meant to defend my dirty deeds.

So, no need to get all huffy, if you please. This sort of tone is more suitable for certain Central European forums....

Peace,

Hans

Hi Joe,

it's my plant (1), and I don't know where it was collected.

After taking counsel from various knowledged people, I tend to believe it's alata x truncata.

(1) For those who would like to join the fray in condemning my overly hasty and certainly not too well thought-out purchase, please head over to the CPUK mirror thread, where a lively discussion on the moral implications has already been ignited.
