pitcher liquid level

On a judith finn, what is the "normal" liquid level?

Is it ok to put a splash of rain water in it?

I don't know what's normal, per se, but adding water will not hurt it in any way. If it's empty (from shipping or whatever) just add a little bit; but, if it has liquid in it already just leave it be.

normal = no more than 1/2 full, but usually around 1/3 or less

My observation from my own Neps is that ~1/3 the pitcher height.

actually I would say 1/4th of the pitcher size. it has pretty low level of fluid. I guess it depends upon how much food it gets in that pitcher.

It only depends on food because of displacement. I fed a truncata a lizard once and it didn't produce any more liquid, the lizard just displaced its weight worth. The pitcher not producing more fluid is the reason why pitchers rot if you overfeed them.

If anything, fluid level is species dependant.

my N. sanguinea's fluid is like 1/5 the pitcher. i think phission is right...its species/hybrid dependant.
