Pinguicula in a Quahaug shell 1 year

I put some Mexican Pings in a untreated Quahaug shell my neighbor gave me a year ago.
They are planted in APS.
They seem to be doing well though they are green from sitting in my window and not under floro lights.
Calcium does not seem to be a problem.
Any comments?

What is the medium? What do you recommend for most mexi's?

The medium is aquatic plant soil.
Most of my mexi pings are in 1:1:1:1 vermiculite, pearlite, sand, peat. This soil mix is ok for pings but APS seems to be better for them.

Calcium is actually a good thing. I'm using crushed coral in my Mexican ping media, with one exception.

I'll have to try that. What do you recommend for pings that will be outside? It needs to hold a bit more water I think.

If I am not mistaken Peter D'Amato has been growing pings this way for years and it seems to promote healthy growth. I like it because of its creative factor. A nice shell looks more impressive than a 3 inch plastic pot.
