I'm loving that first cross, it has a lot of oomph to it.

Thanks for all the compliments. I think they have just enjoyed being left alone. With them at home and me at school I haven't really done anything special for them. They all share a single T5 bulb and a bit of sun from the less than optimal window for light and get household temps and humidity. I will probably be moving the larger ones outdoors for the summer to give them some more light and space.

I was looking at my veitchii tonight and I found myself thinking there are just so many things to love about them. Of course the stripes are the big draw but it doesn't end there. Just when you think it couldn't get any better after a couple weeks it starts changing to this beautiful copper color that is just as stunning as its stripes once developed. I also think it has really nice foliage though my opinion is kind of based on the wavy leaves mine produces which may be caused by my use of coffee to fertilize. Anyway I thought I would share some pics. This is the pitcher that formed after the one in the previous post. The previous one won out on stripes but this one is still nice and has held up better than the other which got indigestion from something I fed it and rotted prematurely. It hasn't fully developed it's coppery color but it is getting there.

Nice densiflora x king of clubs! Seems not to mind household humidity, did it take long to harden?

You know that particular plant confuses me a bit. It seems to grow fine in household humidity since the plant and pitchers have grown rapidly, etc, but it regularly produces little lids which is typically a sign of too little humidity. They aren't so little that they look bad but the lid rarely covers the opening all the way until the pitcher is finished growing. I put it outside about a month ago since space is pretty tight inside and it was the only nep that adjusted to the conditions no problem. The weather has been pretty crazy here with days over 100 already and it seems to be doing fine so I think it is pretty hardy in general with maybe a bit of sensitivity to humidity but not enough that it can't be grown in household conditions. I guess to answer your question more directly I have grown it hard from the start and it has never skipped a beat growth rate wise but has shown some mild stress through little lid production. As a warning though the vendor I purchase my plants from doesn't baby his plants either so I am able to be a little rough with my new plants but I wouldn't reccomend throwing a new plant straight into less than optimal conditions unless you know how it was grown by the previous owner.

Hmm that is strange! I seem to be having the opposite problem with some of my neps recently, nice big pitchers just not very often.. Although im fairly sure it's because it's been horribly cloudy over this side of the pond for quite a while. Thanks for the clear explanation, I think I'll be getting a densiflora x truncata soon!
