One thing to watch out for when doing close-ups of people..
dont use a wide-angle lens!
(or if its a camera with a zoom lens, dont use the wide-angle end of the zoom..)

its better to go telephoto, and step further away.

the persons face fills the same amount of the frame either way,
telephoto and far away,
or wide-angle and close up,

but the wide-angle really distorts things..makes a quite unflattering portrait.

A mild telephoto (like a 80 or 100mm in the old film world) is often considered a "portrait lens"..

No offense taken, shes not emo...
I would post another one, but has a rather inappropriate gesture, basically saying what she would say if you called her that haha

scotty, thanks I could tell there was something off, but I still like them, Ill be sure to use my telephoto lens.

I might be getting a Macro lens, would that be better? I want to use it for close up insect photography, but Ive seen people say that its good for portrait photography to.
