New way to view Utric traps

While studying up on my Utric. dichotoma and learning they grow as a terrestrial and an aquatic I decided to grow my plant in that manner. Using a square glass container I cut a piece of mesh to fit the diagonal and filled one side with a peat/sand mix and the other side with water. I used lfs to keep the peat from escaping. I find this way to view traps superior because I can change the water more often. As you can see in the photos U. dichotoma grows better as an aquatic.

sorry for some of the bluryness??? Jack

Interesting :)
On the last picture do you have something in the water..food for utrics perhaps? Or is it LFS debris?

Jack,

where did you get daphnia? I checked the pet stores and they only sell dead, sterilized and frozen ones...

Daphnia are the size of a pinhead and pink to orange colored, easily seen with the naked eye.

The question is where WON'T you get Daphnia? Anywhere there's green water you'll find daphnia. Just leaving a container of water where it gets a decent amount of sun and doesn't get boiling hot daphnia will occur naturally. Just take a few blades of grass, dunk them in stagnant water and daphnia are sure to appear.

Not true....protazoa and paramecium may flourish from dry grasses, but Daphnia are not those.

What ever they are they grow in my trays with vft and sarrs that I keep outside (and they do lots of circles) so maybe paramecium.
