New Pings - Need your advice! - photo

I would like your opinion on my ping set up.

I only have five right now. I have them under shop lights on a 12 hr timer.
Right now I have them in a tray under a dome, with a little water in the tray.
Temp is 75'F and humidity on that shelf ranges from 50-60% humidity.
Soil is 50/50 peat and perlite.

Would it be safe or better to remove the pings from the humidity dome?
Should there be more or less water in their tray?

I just read back 30 pages of post here and excited to get more!!!

Right now I have my pings (primuliflora and moctezumae) at 80F and 50-60% humidity more or less. I tend to keep a bit more water than that in the trays though.

Long term you might want to remove the dome to get more circulation though.

I find that leaving plants in standing water and under a dome is usually a bad idea. It could cause your plants to rot. I grow my pings in the open air at about 50 to 60% humidity. If you decide to remove the dome, you might need to do so gradually, if they've grown in that heightened humidity long.

I see moctezumae and primuliflora but the others?

for these 2

primuliflora for me with a substrat peat-river sand (20/80) more wet in spring, always in water like 'in situ'.

moctezumae with a alcalin substrat ,always slightly wet even in dormancy.


these 2 are actually here out door , in winter ( or in their dry period) in door.
