Seriously though, good luck to anyone planning on "coming out of the closet". This is 2011 - there shouldn't even be a damn "closet" - these are modern times. Let's do away with medieval superstitions and let people live how they want as long as they're not hurting anyone.

How wonderful a world it would be if everyday was coming out day, but we have to remember that not every child, teen, or even adult are able to deal with/survive being ostracized.

My roommate for the first semester of freshman year of college came out of the closet on me, literally. I came back from class, sat down for 15 minutes, and then his wardrobe door open and he crawled out, playing Sims. I would have much preferred if it was a metaphorical closet.

A friend of the family came out a few months ago. After several weeks went by, I asked him how he felt - he said he was amazed that it was such a non-issue for everyone ...
