N. Faizalina

Hey everyone, I was looking around and reading some articles where a Nep know as N. Faizalina was mentioned I Immediatley searched it but came up with very little results BUT the only pic available was very crips, anyone ever heard of it?

I have heard of it, I guess it's just not too common, also there has been some mix up of plants between it and fusca. That's a really great picture of one though.

It's in cultivation, for a while now.

The true N. faizaliana originates from Malesiana Tropicals which is the only source up to May 2007, supplying true N. faizaliana.

All other big dealers sell a form of N. fusca mislabelled as N. faizaliana.

Ch'ien Lee identified this plant as N. fusca from Sarawak.

Basically if the hoods are long and narrow and triangular it is a N. fusca. If they are rounded or orbicular then it may be Nepenthes faizaliana. Part of the confusion is that when young N. fusca "Sarawak" looks similar to N. failzaliana with rounded lids.

Note: My plant is definitely N. fusca.

Here are the pics of N. fusca "Sarawak" that was mistakenly ID'd (by Charles LOL) as faizaliana. This is ABG's plant, one of the first "Sarawak" in the country.

there is still no way thats just a variant of N. fusca. GOtta be a species.

But yes, faizaliana hasnt been truly in cultivation (at least not widespread) for a while. Good luck getting your hands on one.

The lids are so cute on the "Sarawak". The make me think of Big Bird of Sesame Street fame now more than the Alien Queen. I must be regressing.
