My eddies.

JMatt

Stovepipe (The Beast) RIP My friend.
I brought my plants outside to catch a cool afternoon shower.
Figured I would take a few quick shots. There both growing at a pretty good clip now.
I do give them coffee like once a month. The leaf jumps seem to be pretty good.
I'm not sure if it's the coffee or just the plants settling in to my conditions?
The larger plant I got like 7 months ago and the smaller one I got 10 months ago.
At first I burnt the heck out of them with my T-5's. I lowered the light levels and they seem happy now.
Thanks for looking, I haven't posted anything in ages!!!
Jeff

Very nice plants there! How do you grow them?

Same, what conditions are you growing them in?

really nice peristome teeth shape on those puppies! Great growing care to share your techniques?

Awesome, I love the green wings.

Beautiful plants, Jeff, as always . . .

Thank you everyone.
I really don't have any special set up for my neps.
I grow them in the basement in a huge Exo terra tank under T-5 lights.
I like those tanks because the face of the tank is double doors that open for easy access.
I had glass cut for the lid, removing the screened lid. There is a 4 inch fan in there and that's about it.
Always cooler in the basement, but even now with this super hot weather we are having the temps in the basement do rise.
Most of the year it's usually 50's night to 70's day, but lately it has been mid 60's night to lower 80's day.
I'm not really sure how hot the eddies can take it, but I don't like it if it gets to 85 degrees. I start getting nervous.
Even now they still get a drop of about 15 degrees at night. They seem to be doing ok so far.
The humidity in that tank is always in the 80 to 90 degree range with great air flow. When my lights shut off the fan stays on 24/7
The T-5 lights i have on for 12hr off 12hr and I lowered the light level down to 550fc. I do need to check them because they do degrade over time.
I had the plants getting anywhere from 700 to 900fc and that always resulted in sunburn. I don't understand it, I thought they could take a lot of light.
Maybe it was just a case of too much light too soon when I got them? They have been at 550fc for quite some time I probably could raise it some now?
They are coloring up still which is good. I generally only water once a week and they do not sit in saucers. I used to sit plants in saucers and it always ended up in disaster.
Things just stayed too wet! The media degrades quick and you end up with rot problems. Now I water thoroughly let it drain then leave it alone for 5 to 7 days. The pots never get bone dry.
I try and use rain water as much as I can, but if not rain i use my well water. That's been tested at only 22ppm from the tap. If I feel like it I have taken that water and run it threw my RO unit and got my dissolved solids down to 2ppm
I haven't done that in some time and haven't seen any bad effects from my well water at all.
I do have other neps too but I am kind of partial to the toothy ones.
Jeff

Those are two great plants. Hopefully their growth rate continues to pick up as they increase in size.

Looking Great dude, you really grew out that one well. Here is a pic of the macro,

Dang, impressive. Do you have any pics of when you first got them?

Soon your plant will rival specimens from the wild. It looks wonderfully grown.

JMatt,

Thanks yeah it has put out some huge leaves recently, I think its nearly a foot across now.
Also, to answer your email, unfortunately I think Ryan had sold the cutting you gave him, he is going through financial struggles so was forced to sell a significant portion of his personal plants. It did look really nice though, it had put out a nice upper pitcher last time I saw it. Also, here is something you can look forward to with your edwardsiana ;), they should start putting out traps like this for you in a year or so.
