media in bottom of pots

What are the best types of media to use in the bottom of pots to keep soil from coming out?

I use about an inch of packed LFS.

I use LFS, but am experimenting lately with the use of Redwood or Red Cedar mulch with very good results. Both have antibacterial and antifungal qualities that reduce instances of anaerobic processes.
