Read the rules first :)
NASC auction is OPEN!!

I never thought it would happen

chibae

An orchid fancier with a CP problem
Between power failures, and moving, and no longer having the climate controlled basement for my plants; I my nep collection had been reduced to only those that can handle my now higher temps for them. Yet, today I saw it. My mini maxima has put up a flower stalk.

Glad it's flowered for you! Sorry it seems to have possibly been due to some unwanted situations. Do you know if it's a male or female yet?

On a different note, what do you call it when a nep that seems happy vines for four or five feet, maybe sprouts a basal or two then that vine craps out and dies without ever flowering? I have had that happen a time or two. I guess the basal's probably the answer shifting resources and such...

Any intention of pairing it with something, or ideas on what to pair it with?
It's not miniature (though was supposed to be when I got the seeds), but I have a Sulawesi locale maxima with pollen stored.

I hadn't thought about it to be honest. I have no pollen stored and have never bred a nep. I have done hand pollination on orchids and sarrs, that's about it. I have grown neps from seed, using purchased seed pods.

Looking back, appears you got it from me via the 2022 NASC auction. 🧐. Now I know what sex it is! 😁 (It’s never bloomed for me. Once it really gets carried away vining, I’ve always cut it back due to lack of space in my apartment.)

If it turns out male I have a couple of females in flower right now. My ventricosa x tiveyi x truncata is always in flower and my 'Peter D'Amato' is throwing up a spike right now. I also have some pollen saved from my LVB x VMV x platychila and my veitchii k x m, but that was my first attempt at saving pollen and it's pretty old at this point. I doubt it's any good.

I'm pretty sure it's a girl.
