Hey guys. WHAT is Postmodernism in a philisophical (not artistic) sense? I keep hearing the word and I've been researching for an hour and I can't figure out what it's supposed to be ,or is it one of those deals where it is whatever you want it to be?

I really shouldn't be answering this question but I think modernism was all about the idea that we can keep making progress and eventually end up with a more or less perfect society. Postmodernism seems to our struggle to come to terms with that, and to find meaning in life in spite of our failure.
