Wouldnt also putting vats under the shelves help catch water and increase humidity? I may also install one of those monsoon misters.

  • #24
any water caught that is spread out increasing surface area will help maintain the humnidity for sure.

hey! have you solidified the plans any farther?

  • #26
Nope, my mother is still deciding whether to fund it

Finally an update!
My parents and I have discussed on how funding for this project will work, they will pay for half and I will pay for the other half.
My father has given me a portable AC that was sitting around in storage, it is about 12,000 btu so it should be effective.
As for the greenhouse, I scrapped the idea and decided to just get a real grow room, I decided to go with the secret jardin DR150, the room is 60" x 60" x 80".

I still need to figure out what lighting system would work best for the grow room and how to efficiently humidify it.Any tips?

what about using an HPS with a large clear tub of water beneath it, the light will probably reach the plants, it will heat the space significantly and evaporate the water humidifying the place. If that sounds a little ridiculous what about using a few dozen ultrasonic humidifying discs or you can get just a couple big ones. the small ones can keep a 20 gallon terrarium at around 80-90% humidity so i'm sure you could figure out how many it would take to keep your grow room humidified.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about getting 4 disk humidifiers and another regular house humidifier. I also found a really cool humidifier that hooks up to a tap do you never have to refill it. The device is like 230 dollars but I think it's worth the investment because it outputs a crazy amount of humidity.

Envious of the project ahead of you. I love building stuff! Looking like a pretty good plan you have

............

I've never seen a prefabricated reflective growth chamber. Didn't know they made those. Good to know

I use a similar humidifier as Kyle on the forum. Its a 3 disc pond fogger in a large bucket with a fan. Humidifies my 6.5' square grow tent no problem and only have to refill every 10 days or so.

31drew31, Very cool. I might build one in the future, do you think a couple disk humidifiers placed around the GH would be similar to your device? What humidity levels do you get from it?

  • #36
I have it hooked up to a Hygrotherm so I can set it to whatever I want. I believe it is set to 75% and the humidity is anywhere from 70-90% throughout the day. One 3-disk fogger is plenty for my grow tent and should work well for you. If there is no fan blowing the mist out it would be much less effective though.

The wood board is going to turn into a vat of water with a false bottom, I'm getting some airstones to put in that.
