NASC Auction will open in...

Read the rules first :)
NASC auction is OPEN!!

Heliamphora 'patasola'

:-D
not so sure about the in charge part

Paul did you get one of the siblings during NASC one year?
David, and I thought you got one or two...

if so, how are they looking?

Sadly, it succumbed to my pot-addled house sitter from hell, some years back . . .

Pinocchio: And... and I'm... I'm real. I'm a real boy!

[THAT makes Geppetto look up]

Geppetto: You're alive! And... and you are a real boy!

Congrats!

My December newsletter finally arrived! Butch, the picture you submitted looks wonderful on the back cover! You really captured the essence of the whole plant, flower scape and all!
Congrats on yours and Jen's hard earned accomplishment! :hail: :hail:

Wow that took forever! I got mine a week before Thanksgiving. I agree it is quite an excellent picture.

Thanks you two,

I am honored to have had images selected for both covers now :-D

Both images are 8 or so layers of focus stacking to get the sharp DOF I wanted.
Great technique that is much easier than it sounds once you do it.

I just got my issue last week, Nim you must be on the VIP list lol

Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is. I got the last one a bit early too but not this early.

I really should learn how to do focus stacking at some point. I've been getting more serious about macro photography and depth of field definitely becomes a major issue.

no need for 3rd party software anymore like Helicon if you have photoshop cs6 or newer
I use the OEM canon software to control the focal points, then use CS6 to align and combine the layers

good tripod and no wind is a must

easy peasy
