I noticed this single strand of moss was growing extremely tall in my Ventricosa's pot.

Lol! Too funny...

I've found that temperate sphagnum - when grown tropically for Nepenthes - will often grow wildly and have a very etiolated and spindly growth spurt for a few months until it realizes that winter is never coming where it then dies back and becomes an inert potting substrate. :|

That sounds really depressing. "until it realizes that winter is never coming"
