Germination Results of Seed from Dexenthes

So a few months ago, TF member Dexenthes (Filipino journey here!) was generous enough to distribute quite a lot of Nepenthes seed from the Philippines. I received seeds of N. attenboroughii (119!) and N. nov. spec. Mingan (55) in March. This was my first success with Nepenthes seed, after about eight previous attempts. All were sown on March 7th, the day received, on 1:1 chopped long fiber sphagnum, perlite with a topping of live Sphagnum under solid lowland conditions. The first signs of germination were from N. attenboroughii after 2 weeks, with almost all of them germinating within 4 weeks. The N. nov. spec. Mingan took quite a bit longer and the germination rate was much poorer overall (6 seedlings as of this morning) but the ungerminated seeds still look good. After the first pitchers appeared in both pots, they were moved onto the highland rack (~1 month ago). Since then, I have been diligently ignoring them to focus on finals, but a week ago I did remove a lot of the live sphagnum engulfing them.

sp. Mingan -- no new germination, so stuck at 6 as of now. Everybody's on second pitchers. Good red on the smaller one.

Lots of Nepenthes attenboroughii -- some still germinating, some in one-pitchered suspended animation, others on seconds and thirds

I should start fertilizing them soon...

They are already catching a lot of little springtails that came in with the live Sphagnum.

Yeah, I sprayed them down with 1/4 strength MaxSea today. Hopefully they'll begin picking up soon. Maybe some weak coffee for them and a couple of other small Nepenthes is in order.

I'm really interested in seeing if anyone got germination from those N. ceciliae x pulchra seeds.

No sprouts yet on the N. Species Nov mingan seeds. Had two attens germ. I'm convinced that peat/sand or peat/vermiculite or even straight peat for seeds works the best for NEP seeds. Had a batch of seeds and my buddy received some from the same person. Super fresh seeds. I sewn on milled LFS and him on peat and his germ was much much greater. I wet the peat place in a bag and you shouldn't have to water it. Kinda like a in vitro. Wife about shot me when I nuked the peat so I just have to keep an eye on the new stuff.

A little bit of coffee and fertilizer, as well as the realization that the seedlings prefer it a little wetter, have resulted in some interesting things.

There is one large N. attenboroughii I'm keeping my eyes on; this was the first one to germinate, with cotyledons twice the normal size of the others. Check out the pronounced lamina.

N. attenboroughii have not shown any reds yet, but N. sp. Mingan is; frustratingly, 1 or 2 of the 6 seedlings are looking a little sickly white (although they are still growing at the same pace)

I was checking plant tags today while watering and realized I got these as seeds exactly one year ago, which means the oldest of all the seedlings are about 2 weeks shy of one year old. Time certainly flies!
