Hi! I’ve been caring for a H. Minor and H. Minor x Heterodoxa for a few months now and they’ve been fine without the temperature drop but my understanding is that these are “lowland” Helis and can put up with these conditions. I want to branch out into different Helis but don’t know how well I’d be able to replicate those 50* drops in temperature. I mean, my house gets rather cold in the winter because we all hate the heater and try to keep it on only as necessary but the problem comes in the summer. Also, I’m building my terrarium from 6mm polycarbonate (it’s what I had on hand) so there’s quite a bit of insulation which is a bit disadvantageous for letting the cold from my house into the terrarium in the winters.
I keep watching all these videos/reading posts of people successfully growing helis outside of a terrarium in ambient temps/humidity and it’s making my head spin because I’m pretty sure one of those videos was from the ICPS. There have also been plenty of reliable sources on the opposite end of that spectrum, so which is it? And if cooling is necessary, how do I achieve this in a 24x24x18 inch terrarium? Thanks in advance!
