'Detate Traps' Cultivar?

Hi everyone,

I was at my local Orchard Supply Hardware yesterday and found what appears to be a Dionaea 'Dentate Traps' cultivar, so I bought it.

What do you think? Does it look like 'Dentate Traps' to you? (Click on the thumbnail to view large 135kb picture)

Can anyone tell me the difference between this and D. 'Jaws'

 And what is the name of the one with even more divided teeth.  I'm soooo confused............

'Jaws' is in the Dentate Traps Group. The description is here:

'Sawtooth' is also in the Dentate Traps Group, but has minute teeth. It is sometimes called "Fine Tooth", "Saw Tooth", "Comb Tooth," "Dentata", "Microdents", "Microdentata". The description is here:

'Red Piranha' is also in the Dentate Traps Group.

Well I'll be durned if I can see a difference between 'Jaws' and 'Dentate' but the others are helpful, thanks for the exposition.

Looks like I got a 'Dentate Traps' cultivar for $5.99--which is a bargain as long as it survives...

"Dentate Traps' is one of my most vigorous VFT's, not a wimp like 'Cup Traps'. You should have no problem.

Glad to hear that it should be robust. You just never know with non-CP nursery plants though. I have had both good and bad luck. I guess it depends on how long the plants have been in the store in the shade (always in the houseplant section) with little water.

This is so. I always repot any store bought CP just to be on the safe side.
