I think the problem with the flies(and correct me if I am wrong) is they like stinky stuff-not sweet nectar. If you feed some pitchers so they get a little stinky, the flies may try a closer look.

i can prove and disprove that... VFTs-sweet nectar and no smell. Sarracenia-...now. depending on what you have the nectar can really stink. my first sarr was a 'Judith Hindle' and it reeked!! flies loved it and it was filled to the rim in a week or 2(fall time...). nepenthes probably taste better to some bugs and not others...

Maybe nectar from X plant smells good to us but stinky (good) to them and nectar from X plant smells bad to them but good to us (not stinky).
