Nice! The drosera is really cool and red. :D

Thanks! Any idea what the Unknown ones are? I got them for 3.50 a piece and they just said Nepenthes sp. Hybrid... Can I call it a poi dog? lol

No no, Poi Dog is some sort of special hybrid by some guy I guess IDK. :p

It was a steal getting Neps for that price. Did they say HL or LL? Since they're green and very generic, it will be 100% impossible to ID those. When they produce adult lowers (right now they look like they're producing baby pitchers) you will have a better shot at an ID. I would say ventrata for the second one, but the leaves look different than the ones on my ventrata. I have no clue. ???

haha I kid about the poi dog :) I just heard a story about them awhile ago... The are highland neps. I was going to guess they were Ventrata too. As where I got them, many say they are ventrata's

Yeah, that would be a safe guess. You'll probably see some pink/red in them as they get older.

Are the seed grown or tissue culture?

These are TC. :) What should my next plant be? One that would go well this these....

This worked pretty good all day!

You're going to want to put a top on that terrarium. I build one out of egg crate and saran wrap. Also, it would be a good idea to hook the fogger up in the terrarium. Since it would be impractical to put it inside, maybe you can take the spray head off and attach a hose and run it through a hole in the top, if you choose the egg crate saran wrap method. If you put a lid on it, it will be like 90% humidity or more at all times and the Neps will go nuts. :p

Poi Dog is just a name given to unknown hybrids made from Leilani Nepenthes.
You don't neeeeed a top or a fogger, but your plants might like you more haha. I grow mine window open 24/7

Get a fogger. But make sure you have a fan to dissipate the fog into the air better.

I built a hose for it :) I have some egg crate from frag racks so I will do that! What about it over heating? I can get my room pretty cold so I think that will help! and what about air movement inside?

So How do I go about this? If it is sealed and in the sun, will a window open with outside temps in the lower 60's help cool it internally? and the humidifier has a hose attachment so it can be used that way. I believe the fan inside the humidifier is strong enough that it will help with circulation inside.

So I made a frame lid with a hole on top for a straw tube connected to my humidifier :)
Temps are perfect all day and the humidity is a constant 90% with a timer hooked up to the humidifier that goes off and on every half hour! (it turns off completely at 9pm to 9am)

This is temporary as I am going to be making a rack system for my closet once my collections get a goin.

So Why do some Nep lids close almost?

  • #17
Low humidity can make them do that sometimes. Or just stress. Seeing as how they're almost constantly misted here, I'd say the latter. Could also jsut be those pitchers are getting old.

Yay! Looks awesome! :)

You're on you way to success! ^_^

I have it at about 85% humidity and temps got a little high so I got a little fan to break the air tension in the terra. The two pitchers that are dropping lids are a little old but a new pitcher from the same plant just opened!!

Temp set up that will last awhile till I learn about light fixtures :p
