Byblis Seedlings

DrWurm

Californian in DC
Took a few photos of some Byblis liniflora seedlings that germinated several days ago from seeds I got from JRFxtreme. I was surprised at how quickly they germinated compared to other drosera I sowed around the same time.

I sowed these on a peat/sand mix and covered with plastic wrap. I placed that under my T5 fixture giving them highland/intermediate conditions. No special treatment of any kind.

IME, there's a couple strains of Byblis liniflora going around. The first strain I acquired back around '06 were really difficult to germinate and maintain. The second strain (the ones I sent to you) is extremely easy to germinate and grow. I have a feeling that people who find this species difficult have gotten a hold of the more difficult strain.

Right now I'm trying to resurrect the first type from some really old seed, just to see if there are any physical differences between the two.

Excellent shots, btw!

What did you do to germinate them? Instead of the usual 10% bleach thing I just soaked them in water for a day and syringed them into various pots in the mini-greenhouse and on the grow rack.

I did absolutely nothing special. Sowed them on the top and covered them. I'm getting a great germination rate.
