It's too quiet in here so I went out and snapped a couple pics. Today's subject is unlikely flowering nepenthes. What's odd is that I have a strict highland plant, and a strict lowland plant, within four feet of eachother, growing like gangbusters and flowering.
First, here's N. spectabilis...
I have 5 viking flower spikes. All male. My flowers will open in another 2 weeks I think. Location, Singapore. I can mail pollen.
Any takers with flowering females willing to share seed if it strikes? :P
If I dont hear from any takers I guess I'll just cut off all the flower stalks a week or 2...

Went out of town for 3 weeks and got someone to look after my plants. After coming back, about 20% of my collection is dead, and the rest is SO FRIGGIN DESSICATED that I am forced to repot every single plant I have. I'm talking total dryout, to where the peat is like sand again and can't get wet...
So, this is probably no new idea, but I've been thinking. I've been trying to germinate some N. Viking seeds per PhissionKorps instructions on here. Has anybody ever followed his directions, and then set a thin layer of LFS on top of the seeds until they germinate to keep the localized...
Well, yesterday I recieved some N. globosa in the mail and I was able to sow them today. I did half in a peat/perlite mix and 1/2 in sphagnum I chopped in a blender with perlite. About 80 seed in all.
That was nice, but I also finnished my new grow area for Nep's in the spare bedroom.
I got...

My Raff Giant found out I love her sister, N. Viking, more than I love her. In an expression of shock, she produced this pitcher.
On a more serious note, can you actually clip the lid of a pitcher back like this? I dont know if the wind did it or it grew up that way. I tried to do it to...
The crazy bird is back at it again making holes in my pitchers. It stopped for a while because I cut off all the pitchers from the Viking and now that the Viking has started to pitcher again the bird has returned. I've got about 16 CDs hanging all over and the bird has probably become immune...
Since there seems to be a spike in interest in seed grown plants (finally), I've decided to throw this down as the ultimate reference.
First, I decided to make my own guide on sowing. I do not advocate the use of sphagnum, especially for growing from seed, for these reasons:
1) The moss can...
Yeah, it's pretty big. I keep talking about cutting it up, then I can't bring myself to do it!! I guess i could leave 2 vines and still have a good sized plant sine it's like 6 vines. Here are some more pictures from the greenhouse today. I'm still pretty new to neps, but I think they're...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but, someone took N. viking out of the jungle and sold it on eBay, is it just as illegal to sell N. viking seed harvested from the Jungle on eBay? This guy even admitted to it! Please tell me, if it is I'll post the link here.
Here is one pack of Nepenthes aristolochioides x Viking seeds.
Here is a photo of the mother; I do not own the father.
Bidding starts at $4.00 buyer pays shipping of $1.00. The seeds will be shipped in padded envelopes to prevent damage.
