Some of my sarracenia are not doing so hot, and most of the ones not doing great are from one nursery which is not as widely advertised but I did hear they had nice plants and there was a sticker on the box saying the nursery had been inspected and found free of dangerous plant pests/diseases...
The leaves are kinda yellowish and seem quite thin.
it's environment has not changed since last fall...and it only made one pitcher since then...and it was quite big, but that was over 3 months ago...
it has many pitcher buds...but none seem to want to pitcher anymore...:(
i just sprayed it...
Hi All:
My heliamphora has mealy bugs. I sprayed it with neem oil as I wasnt sure what kind of insecticide to use on it. I know they were mealy bugs because they were soft, white and fuzzy. I was kind of surprised to see them on this plant since they usually stay on my orchid cactus, but they...
I did a search on the site for any threads about this, and couldn't find any. If I missed something, please point me in the right direction. :)
Anyway, my ventricosa has always grown very well since I received it a year ago. It has not pitchered for me in several months, but the leaves have...
Hey, I did a search of insecticides and fungicides because I was going to buy some and I did find some brands at the store, but they either werent what I wanted or too much money.
When buying either one of them, what am I looking for in the ingredients? I remember one of them that was...
After traveling home for Christmas time, I was finally able to pull up my N. x Velvet, take care of my buggy problem, check the roots for rot, and repot. The darkening of the plant base was most definitely just the plant getting woodier. The dark area was very stiff/hard and is apparently a...
Hey!
I have a D. falconeri that isn't looking so hot since, I simply cannot provide the conditions for it. It is a good size, I'd ship it potted. Whoever can show me they have the conditions for it gets it for the cost of shipping. I'd trade it but it isn't doing so good so it's not really...
I didn't want to do this but I have no other choice... *dun dun dun* My insect problem with my Sarracenia catesbaei plants has not gotten any better. I believe I have some sort of caterpiller problem but can never find them... either that or slugs and snails judging by the kind of damage. I...
I am having a bit of a problem with my Dente. It seems to have stopped new growth production since a few weeks ago. A little after the beginning of June (around the same time some of my other plants were attacked by aphids), the plant ceased growing new traps/leaves. The plant was NOT attacked...
Anybody know about this stuff? I went to the hardware store looking for 'Mosquito Dunks' and all I could find was Pre-Strike brand Mosquito Torpedos. I thought I had read that Mosquito Dunks contained some sort of bacteria or something, but this product is based on an insecticide. Can I still...
Alright so the aphids are back and they’re not alone. The ants and aphids are taking full advantage of their symbiotic relationship on my VFTs. I have tried spraying them off, drowning them; I even moved the fortress away from the ant trial it was neighboring, but no luck! New traps are now...
I got my very first orchid today. It's a Haraella retrocalla. It's very tiny and cute. It even had a little flower on it. Does anyone have any tips for caring for orchids?
Also, I noticed that it had a mealy bug on it when I was unpacking it. I killed the mealy bug, but I know I need to...
k, i was spraying insecticide on 2 of my neps: bical and ventricosa cuz they both had scale. anyways i picked up my spray bottle and sprayed both of them when i noticed that the liquid didnt smell like it usually does (that bad chemical smell). instead it smelled like soap. it turns out i just...
Hi,
I just planted my first nep seeds and was wondering with such a long time before germination, should/could I use ortho fungicide on the seeds?
I don't know if it's safe for nep seeds but have used it on drosera and sarra seeds during stratification because I had fungus problems.
thanks,
Zero
About two weeks ago we started noticing a bug or two flying around our kitchen sink. We didn't think much of it until a few days had gone by and these things became a major pest. Anytime you walk into the kitchen, bedroom, or one of the bathrooms you can see at least 10 or 20 on the...
Hello Carnivorous world!
I need this time your help!
I have already an idea...but not all is totally clear to me.
So...I went on holidays for 18 days and when I returned I realized that the dead had blow over my poor plants!
3 Dead plants : 1 villosa , 1 Inermis Clone B and a Tentaculata.
I...
Hello fellow CPers.
My Nepenthes hamata suffered a week-long drought over the summer last year. This caused the leaves to grow smaller, yet as strong as the previous ones. It's growth of rate wasn't as impressive as when I had first received it, and the pitchers' size had obviously been greatly...
One of my terrariums has become infested with tiny bugs, far to small for the neps to eat, a few end up as sundew food but they mostly go unchecked. If I were to put a Utricularia in there would it keep down the bugs population? Which one should I choose for Highland Nep. conditions? If that...
My indoor grow chamber seems to have an aphid infestation. It is hard on my smaller sundews, and they seem to be making a home of the Utrics, as well.
One solution suggested to me a long time ago was to use pet flea collars. If I went this route, how many would I need to assure full coverage of...
Have any of you used the insecticide known as imidocloprid (often sold as Merit or as one of the many lines of Bayer insecticides) on Drosera species? Is it harmful to them?
Just wondering.
Thanks,
Corey
