woodchips in peat

Should be fine, only thing I'd worry about is if you are using the peat for seedlings or something that might have trouble rooting around a piece on/near the surface.
 
good point. i most likely will end up using it for seeds at some point but at the moment I am just repotting vfts and sars. the new brand I tried this year has way more wood chips and small twigs than the one I used last year, was just hoping I could get away with using it anyways if I rinse it good. main concern was the wood rotting.
 
I dont remove wood etc from peat, I dont see any necessity for it unless as has been said it is for seeds, nor do I rinse it.
