The colored portions is some sort of velvet-like substance glued onto the plants. Imagine pitcher plants will be done at some point.

And imagining Nepenthes or Heliamphora with cloth glued onto them just looks really, really weird.

I have seen spray painted Cacti at local garden centers this season. They are calling them "Kosmic Kaktus"
