Why do some Mexican butterworts bend their leaves and lift out of soil?

Why do some Mexican butterworts bend their leaves down and lift themselves out of the soil? What can be done to prevent this?

mine did it for awhile, and i learned from my experiance that it was a lack of light....once i moved them under good strong lighting, they stopped doing that....
