white fuzz on flava

so my big flava has grown a lot and put out many new growth points. yesterday i noticed some white fuzzy stuff at the base of a pitcher. cleaned it off with a q tip. but now im worried. it has been really warm lately and the plant as a whole is doing very well...... what is the best way to get rid of this? am i in danger of loosing this plant?

its a little blurry... but it looks a lot like mealybugs i would suggest isopropyl alcohol and a dab of dish soap.

Yes, looks like mealybugs to me too. The solution I use is 1 part 409 cleaner, 1 part rubbing alcohol, 4 parts water. Get in there with a swab or small paint brush. Treat all you Sarracenia with systemic insecticide like Bayer Advanced Rose and Flower. Spraying alone won't get rid of them, you need to get into the nooks and crannies with the brush. You might need the concentrated version Complete Insect Killer and do a soil drench if they get into the roots.

Looks to me like mealybugs as well. I usually find these in between the little armpits of the Nepenthes leaves from time to time. What I do is spray them with alcohol and immediately spray that part of the plant with water right after so the plant doesn't get alcohol burns. Make sure you check in every nook and cranny on the plant. Do you notice any bug-like things within the white fuzz? These are the mealybugs and they should turn brown after the alcohol has been sprayed on them, indicating they have died.

Yup mealy bugs. Just killed all I could find with a cotton swap and alcohol. I guess I'm glad it's this and not rot of some sort. thank you for the help. I feel better

Mealybugs are stealth pests. By the time you see them like that they are usually out of control. That's why I recommend you spray all your plants. Sundews and Pinguicula may not like the spray.

Does the insecticide need to sit for any length of time or do I need to flush it out after treatment?
