What are these structures?

Are they flattened and mostly horizontal, Jim? If so I would say they almost look like seed-leaves (cotyledons) but that doesn't answer the question of 'why?'
 
I have on occasion seen these aerial roots on some of my capes, usually plants where the soil has sunk way down in the pot.

Now aka "mangroove drosera" thanx to Fred, :lol:
