NASC auction is OPEN!!

VOODOO Lily

anyone grow this plant? if so could you let me know their cultural requirements? thanks. I saw one today at my schools greenhouse in full bloom and it is outstanding!

They grow like weeds up here in Olympia - I see them popping up alongside people's houses and from beneath their downspouts all the time. You should be able to grow them like any other seasonal outdoor bulb. If you get some, I'd love to trade for one. There was a colony of them outside my old house but I lost track of where they were and couldn't dig one up before I moved. :/

Thanks for the info Joe! I will try to get my hands on one. It would look great growing aside my Arisaema!

Nice tommyr! Get some pics:-O (but keep the stink to your self ha!) have you flowered it before? Is it really that bad?

Will do! This is my first blooming Amorph. They say the smell is pretty bad! This one is a 4 pound bulb, I have an 11 1/2 pounder that hasn't really started to grow yet.

Here's a photo taken a day or two ago:

Wow, very cool! Any idea how long it's supposed to last?

The flower itself is a week old, the smell lasts 3-4 days. As of today the flower is still standing but the smell has subsided.

Far out! :D

I always seem to kill these things when they go dormant otherwise I'd collect them.

When Konjac goes dormant you dig it up, dry it off and sit it on a shelf in the house. You'll know when it wakes up, either the leaf stalk will start to grow or the flower spike. These are easy, they just need VERY well draining soil. And they are heavy feeders.

That's when they die. I need some way of keeping a "dry" bulb not actually as dry as my house is. By spring they're completely dessicated and powder in my hands, if I keep it potted it's mush. So I've given up, they're all yours! LOL

Swords, I have the same exact problem. It grows ok (bulb gets smaller and smaller, yeah i'm doing something wrong) but overwintering it is so tough, they always dry out or turn to mush. I still keep trying though, love these too much.

I have this problem with Elephant ears but not with Amorphs.

Mine's a runt, but so glad it flowered. First time I've ever seen this, got another slightly bigger one that's also gonna flower soon. :)
