Just an observation on U. subulata in my conditions...
Last year, I had NO open flowers... all flowers were cleistogamous... This year there are very few cleistogamous flowers and literally dozens of open, yellow flowers. They're tiny little blooms, but they really are pretty. They don't look as big as I remember gibba flowers being, but I don't have any gibba flowers open right now to compare them side by side.
I haven't changed growing conditions at all... last year, no open flowers... this year, dozens...
