This is a currently-developing U. nelumbifolia flower stalk (pic taken ~2 min ago) for comparison. It is currently about 15" tall - only about the top 3" are in the pic. The U-shaped bend at the top is normal & has been present since the stalk emerged from the media. The developing flower buds are visible from an early stage also.
Sorry for the late response. I think you're right. The tip of it kind of just turned black. I have similar coming out of another nelumb. Oh well I'm sure I'll get flowers eventually
