Tips for growing in Dallas

I'm moving to Dallas in a few months, from Boston. I have a lot of Sarrs, VFTs, and temperate sundews. Can some folks in the Dallas area offer any growing tips: How will they handle the summer heat? What kinds of critters mess with plants outdoors (squirrels, birds, etc.), and at what times of year are they a problem? I grow my plants in an enclosure (a mini-greenhouse, 4'x4'x4'), does anyone else use one? Any other tips? I'm hopeful that the growing conditions for CPs in Dallas are great!

Well, I'm in houston, but the heat shouldn't be a problem(I don't have a greenhouse, though, and S. Purpurea var. purpurea won't like it much). As far as animals, I don't really have a problem with them, but...I'm not in Dallas, either.

Thanks for the reply. Any help is useful to me at this point!
