THe strange things 'dews do

Here is something interesting. The top of my gigantea gor broken off very early in the season. On a whim I just left the portion stuck in the media. Last night I noticed this:

Pyro, are there 2 different plants in the pics?? I'm guessing the first pic is the "Original" D.gigantea, still comin out of its tuber, and the other piece is the broken off part??

Either way, it's an odd set of pics- I love it when stuff that "shouldn't" happen, does happen
