NASC auction is OPEN!!

tall leaves or short, clusters of leaves

Which would be a better choice to buy? A plant that has a couple of leaves standing tall or maybe more, or a plant which has many leaves that are short, and lying on the soil? The store I'm thinking of buying mine from has some healthy plants and I was wondering if certain leaves would do better than others.

Typically- the shorter compact growth means the plants are dormant. While the tall growth is summer growth. I'm not sure one would be "better" than another.. but I would go with the one with more compact growth and many leaves. These will likely be ready to divide quicker (or be multiple plants already) than a plant with a few tall leaves :)

Bear in mind, growth habit isn't related to vigour.

Some plants stay rosetted all year and some are upright all year. Others are rosetted in spring and upright in summer.
